In the five months since Pendo’s acquisition of Israel-based Insert.io, the company has integrated company, culture and capability to yield an even stronger and better Pendo

RALEIGH, NC and BARCELONA, SPAIN—FEB. 27, 2018—Pendo.io, creator of the leading SaaS-based Product Experience Platform, today announced a significant product update that brings together product analytics, feedback, and in-app engagement across mobile and web applications as part of the most complete product experience platform available.

Yesterday, Pendo reported substantial company performance milestones as it closed out its fiscal year. Today, the company announces another important milestone: a fully integrated multichannel product experience platform.

For technology product leaders, this Pendo offering addresses a new reality: business software can no longer be designed with a single platform in mind. The average enterprise has adopted six employee-facing apps, and employees use three different devices in their daily routine. Product teams must optimize their products for multiple devices, and provide a seamless experience, in context, as users move from screen to screen.

This launch is monumental for Pendo. In September 2017, the company made its first acquisition in Israel-based Insert.io, which provided mobile app owners code-free in-app campaigns, surveys, and help. Pendo and Insert believed a combined effort could deliver a complete multichannel platform for product teams, helping them create great software product experiences across all screens and devices.

Today’s announcement proves out the thesis. The Pendo platform integrates mobile and web data into a single analytics dashboard with a unified interface. Pendo users can now:

  • Analyze product usage across multiple platforms to make rapid data-driven decisions
  • Survey users in-app (both web and mobile) for relevant, high-quality feedback
  • Improve UX and user onboarding through customizable, targeted, contextual in-app help and guidance
  • Promote new (or unused) features in-app to increase engagement and retention
  • Prompt users for ratings and reviews to increase app visibility

“The Insert acquisition has been everything we hoped it would be,” said Todd Olson, Pendo co-founder and CEO. “The Israel team equals us in passion, skill and ambition to make Pendo the best possible solution for modern product managers. In just five months, this combined team has successfully extended Pendo’s platform for full support for native mobile apps.”

Pendo now offers three deployment options:

  1. Web only–for product leaders focused on web and responsive web use cases.
  2. Mobile only–for product leaders focused on analyzing and guiding users in native mobile apps.
  3. Hybrid–for product leaders seeking to understand and guide users across multiple screens–web, responsive web, and mobile app–as a connected user journey.

The new offering has already led to expanded customer relationships.

“We’ve never had good visibility into how technicians and crew leaders in the field are using the mobile apps we provide,” said Kerry McCane, who oversees field services as director of product management at New Jersey-based WorkWave, an existing Pendo customer. “By using Pendo’s mobile capabilities, we can now train, onboard and guide our technicians to use our mobile apps more effectively.”

Neeraj Agrawal, general partner at Battery Ventures, Pendo investor and board member, said: “Combining Pendo and Insert makes tremendous sense for customers of both companies who no longer think of their product experiences through the lens of a single platform. We saw this as a clear one-plus-one-equals-three combination, both for the combined utility of the platform and the positive impact on the size of the combined market opportunity.”
