Black History Month in the United States recognizes and honors the diverse and impactful contributions from those of the African diaspora throughout American history. As a part of Black History Month, Pendo will change our logo from February 1st to February 7th to incorporate the Pan-African colors of black, red, green, and yellow, which symbolize history, prosperity, growth, and shared identity.

Year round, Pendo’s MOSAIC affinity group—representing Black, Indigenous, and People of Color—works to positively influence the work environment for BIPOC talent, striving for equitable professional development of all group members, and assisting Pendo in achieving its diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.

We recognize that the last couple of years have been taxing on every human, and disproportionately for those who identify with a historically-oppressed group. But there has been a very clear call to action. In recent months, our MOSAIC members have responded to the call to action in new ways. For Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the group initiated a volunteering campaign that encouraged Pendozers to act and win together—two of Pendo’s core values.

This month, MOSAIC members will continue to take action by focusing on health and wellness for our Pendozers of the African diaspora. We want to help our employees create a well-rounded and individualized health and wellness toolkit, which factors in emotional, physical, and mental well being. The events we are planning for Black History Month will give employees new tools for their health and wellness kits.

Here is a snapshot of how MOSAIC empowers Pendozers to prioritize health and wellness during, and beyond, Black History Month:

    • The first tool: showing up for yourself daily! During this month, MOSAIC members will post daily health and wellness tips—teaching and inspiring new ways to show up for yourself, and in turn showing up more fully for our community.
    • We’ll also host a virtual yoga session (offering another tool for our employees).
    • We will continue to focus our attention on emotional and mental health by hosting Dr. Joy of Therapy for Black Girls for a virtual lunch and learn. This  session will equip Pendozers with the tools of grace, loving-kindness, and self compassion as they take ownership of their careers (and other areas of life).
    • Finally, Pendo will partner with Raleigh-Durham’s Black Farmer’s Market to honor and embrace the contributions and positive impact that those of the African diaspora have made through food and community.

As we continue our journey to increase awareness and inspire action, offering employees these new tools supports our work to ensure that Pendo is a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for all Pendozers.
