Set on the stunning slopes of Utah Olympic Sports Park, last week’s Front UX and Product Management bootcamp was jam-packed with best practices, tactical tips and a bit of skiing too.
The annual Park City event took place over two days, and included four tracks and 20 courses led by industry leaders from across the country. Alongside 200 product designers and managers, we learned the ins and outs of product management and user experience while spotting a few U.S. Olympians in the process!
Pendo sponsored the event, handing out fun winter weather gear and our take on the ugly holiday sweater while trading Patagonia and The North Face gift cards for product demos.
The Front bootcamp serves as an intensive training experience, with a goal of learning from each other and from experts with decades of experience in the trenches of product management and UX. Sessions were taught by product leaders from Amazon, Workfront, Adobe, Intuit, Domo and many other successful companies.
With a wide array of workshop and session options each day, bootcamp attendees set their own daily schedule and moved between topic tracks that covered product management, user experience, leadership and research. Front’s approach allowed product leaders to actually practice the techniques they can put to use during product discovery and delivery back at work. Workshop sessions included:
- Product Leadership Fundamentals: Find, Develop, and Keep Your Team Healthy led by Mariah Hay, VP of Product at Pluralsight
- A Guide to Everyday Design Ethics led by Jonathan Shariat, Sr. Interaction Designer at Intuit
- Better Listening, Better Products led by Elaine Chao, Product Manager at Adobe
- Designing for Growth, Virality led by Chad Heinrich, Vice President of User Experience at Domo
Front Park City was both intimate and intensive, with attendees learning together by day and taking in the gorgeous sights of Park City by evening. Our team explored local hotspots like No Name Bar and the High West whiskey distillery, and even channeled our inner winter athletes on the bobsleds!
The event fit perfectly with our mission at Pendo: to help product teams succeed by giving them the tools to understand and guide their users. We’re excited to see how teams from the bootcamp put their new skills to work while building exceptional products.
