Fueling global product experiences: Pendo localizes for Japan’s AI-driven future

Japan has one of the most advanced technology markets in the world. It’s home to some of the most iconic tech brands, cutting-edge R&D, and a digital transformation movement that’s reshaping entire industries. 

We opened our Tokyo office in 2020 with one goal: to help Japanese companies deliver exceptional product experiences. Now, we’re taking the next big step in that journey. We’re localizing the Pendo platform to support Japanese language and market needs, bringing the full power of product-led growth to a region that’s redefining the future.

Why Japan, and why now?

Japan’s enterprise software market is thriving. Current estimates put the Japanese software market on track to reach US $50B by 2030. Plus, Japan is ranked third globally for AI R&D, paving the way for an automated and ethical future. According to the World Economic Forum, Japan’s commitment to ethical standards in AI development has proven to be the nation’s competitive advantage. 

Japan’s persistent prioritization of transparency and fairness in technological development has highlighted a growing need for platforms that not only enable intelligent automation, but do so with clarity, accountability, and user-first thinking. 

That’s where Pendo comes in. As AI becomes more central to how products are built and experienced, teams need reliable insights into user behavior and sentiment to drive business outcomes. Pendo helps product leaders build responsibly by making it easy to understand how users engage, so they can deliver product experiences that their customers truly love.

Our global strategy: Intentional design for users everywhere

Making Pendo available in Japanese wasn’t as simple as translating text. It was part of a broader internationalization effort to ensure that the product adapts to different languages, regions, and cultural contexts. 

Through internationalization (building Pendo to support multiple languages and regions), and localization (adapting Pendo to specific cultural and contexts), we’re ensuring every global user has a tailored, relevant experience that feels like it was made for them. This two-pronged effort ensures that we’re holistically creating thoughtful, engaging experiences for our global customers.

Looking ahead: Where Pendo’s going next

This launch is just the beginning. Japan is our first localized experience, and next up are German, Portuguese, French, and Spanish as we expand across Europe and LATAM.
